The entry area of the museum will be different in the future. The large, open area that we, the museum staff, have called "Gallery A" and "Gallery B" in the past, will be partitioned. The first section will be dominated by a title wall, welcoming visitors to the Donald W Reynolds Great Plains Discovery Center. The entry will have a large floor map of the Great Plains, surrounded by panels and activities that help people get a sense of just what defines the Plains. Beyond the entry area, visitors will encounter the "People of the Plains" diorama, the "Artistry of the Plains" exhibit, and most prominently, the tornado theater, or "Terrible Tuesday." It's going to be a very content-rich area with lots to do and experience.
The floor map of the Great Plains in the new entry area will measure 25 x 37 feet!
