DEEP DEUCE & BEYOND

Through June 21, 2020

“Deep Deuce” is a historically African-American business and residential corridor along Second Street in Oklahoma City.  The neighborhood gave rise to the jazz guitarist Charlie Christian, blues singer Jimmy Rushing, and novelist Ralph Ellison.  In this photo essay, Ron Tarver documents Deep Deuce through a series of photographs that capture the architecture and history of this culturally significant area.

“Deep Deuce & Beyond” is part of the Oklahoma History Center’s traveling exhibit program.
