May 20 update
The Board of Trustees of the Museum of the Great Plains Authority continues to evaluate the COVID-19 situation. At the last meeting on May 20, the trustees postponed determining a reopening date until the scheduled June meeting.
As a result, the Museum of the Great Plains remains closed to the public through June 17.
Ongoing uncertainty about the track of COVID-19 infection, scarcity of hand sanitizer and other cleaning products and protective equipment, informs the Authority’s decision.
Ultimately, the health and welfare of museum visitors and staff are the trustees’ primary consideration.
The Museum of the Great Plains first closed to the public on March 17. The board has directed that any memberships current as of March 17 be extended—when the museum reopens—by the amount of time equal to the closure.
