LIVING HISTORY

Immerse yourself

Our living history interpreter and reenactors take you all the way back to the 1830s - and that's a fur piece.  Visit the Coffee's Station Trading Post, a re-creation of a structure that once stood about 50 miles southeast of the museum.  It's a hoot.

The Trading Post operates Tuesday through Saturday througout the year, weather permitting.

The main building of the museum will close to the public after August 15, 2026, for extensive maintenance and repairs.  The projected completion date is early 2028.

The outdoor areas of the museum will remain open to the public Monday through Friday from 10:00 – 5:00, free of charge.

Support for the Museum of the Great Plains provided in part by the City of Lawton and the City of Lawton Hotel-Motel Tax Fund.
